On the 25th of November 2020
took place the annual teacher meeting of the European Association of Second Chance Schools.
Even if the conditions of this event were very different from the past years, this cooperative moment was full of swap of good practices and a way for everyone to learn more about the situation of young people in neighbouring countries.
After a forward-looking and lucid speech from our President Michel Haudry, the project “Young people voices matter” was presented to the attendees. This collaborative movie, carried out in partnership with 3 European schools -France, Portugal and Spain- was our answer to the call for project “Initiatives for International Solidarity” of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign affairs. The idea of “Young people voices matter”
was to make everyone know how kids from our schools had felt the lockdown.
Then, more then 30 teachers and trainers from 20 European Second Chance Schools spoke about the issues they faced during this rough period, how they dealt with e-learning, digital tools and how they had to reinvent their methods to keep students engaged.
This meeting was also a way to learn more about the actual situation of young people all over Europe. It was an important moment for each attendee. Once again, the strength of our network let us feel that we are not alone and that we are stronger all together.
An open debate about “The future of E2C” closed this intense and useful meeting.
