The Spanish Network of 2nd Chance Schools is born!.
A NATIONAL NETWORK, AN EFFECTIVE MODEL
CONCRETE SOLUTIONS FOR YOUNG NEETS In Spain, unemployment affects almost half of youth under 25 years and the dropout rate is the highest in Europe. Social entities (associations, foundations, cooperatives) have developed effective solutions to promote youth employability inspired by the Second Chance Schools model. Six of them(Adsis Foundation, El Llindar Foundation,Federico Ozanam Foundation Peñascal Kooperatiba, Proyecto Don Bosco Foundation and Tomillo Foundation), with the support of the MedNC Network and UfM Secretariat, founded a national association in order to build cooperation and gain recognition. It’s mission is to provide practical and effective solutions to all NEETs in Spain, through the development of an innovative model of Second Chance Schools, involving the private sector, recognized and supported by the public authorities. The priorities for action are: 1. Strengthen collaboration between Second Chance Schools; 2. Implement a national certification process; 3. Organize and participate in events that contribute to the recognition of Second Chance Schools model and mobilization of stakeholders; 4. Develop complementarities with public policies and maintain an active dialogue with national, regional and local administrations; 5. Build an active and effective cooperation at Euro-Mediterranean level. The Spanish Network Second Chance School has been invited to the General Assembly of European Association last month in Chambery (France).
